SafeCheck Home ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the SafeCheck Home mobile application ("the App").
The App provides consumer product safety information based on publicly available government data. We comply with applicable data protection laws.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Safety checklist items you create
- Feedback and suggestions you submit
Automatically generated information:
- A randomly generated device identifier (UUID) — used solely to associate data with your device for deletion purposes
- Anonymous usage statistics (feature usage, crash reports) to improve the App
3. Information We DO NOT Collect
- Name, email address, or phone number
- Physical address or precise location
- Photos, videos, or voice recordings
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA)
- Any information from the device's contacts, calendar, or other apps
- Payment or financial information
4. How We Use Information
All information collected is used solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:
- Safety checklist items are stored locally and synced to your account for cross-device access
- Anonymous usage statistics help us understand which features are most useful
- The device identifier enables the "Delete My Data" feature
We do NOT use any information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
CPSC NEISS Database (Public Data)
- The App queries publicly available U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission data
- No personal information is transmitted to CPSC servers
Cloudflare (Hosting & CDN)
- Hosts our backend API and serves app data
- All data transmission is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS)
Railway (App Hosting)
- Hosts the backend API and database
- Safety checklist data is stored in a database
6. Data Retention
Safety checklist data is retained until you request deletion via the "Delete My Data" feature in the App's Settings. Anonymous usage statistics are retained in aggregate form and cannot be tied back to individual users.
Information stored locally on your device remains on the device and is not transmitted to our servers except as described above.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Review the personal information we hold about you
- Request deletion of your personal information at any time
- Withdraw consent for further collection or use of your information
To exercise any of these rights, use the "Delete My Data" button in the App's Settings, or contact us at the email address provided in Section 10.
8. No Advertising & No Tracking
SafeCheck Home does not display third-party advertisements. We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or behavioral profiling. We do not share, sell, or rent any user data to third parties.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption of all data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Minimal data collection — we only store what is strictly necessary
- Immediate data deletion upon your request
10. Medical Disclaimer
SafeCheck Home provides safety information based on public government data for educational and informational purposes only. The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical concerns.
Injury statistics reflect reported emergency room visits and do not represent the absolute safety or danger of any product category. Use this information as one of many sources when making safety decisions for your household.
